A conversation with performer and playwright Kieran Hurley about gig theatre, storytelling from behind a desk, the long-missed Arches and the optimism of making shows about the end of the world. Kieran’s best known shows include his break-out hit Beats – soon to be a major movie – the two-hander Chalk Farm and the Fringe First award-winning Heads Up. He frequently collaborates with theatre-maker Julia Taudevin and is currently working on commissions for the Traverse, Edinburgh and Perth Theatre.
The twine game Kieran mentions as an inspiration for Heads Up is Queers in Love at the End of the World.
