This paper draws on queer theory to examine the inclusion of non-heterosexual identities within mass market role-playing games, focussing on the Fable and Dragon Age series. How do different design decisions create the opportunity to ‘play queer’? What are the limits of a logic of sameness in which all sexual identities are treated in the same way?
